Microsoft no longer sees MacOS as a threat. They want to get at
Apple's proprietary multimedia technology, which is, admitedly,
a step ahead of Microsoft's. The agreement lets them do this.
Also, the deal severs the Apple/Java/Netscape triangle. MS
is aiming to attack Java/Netscape because they are the main
threat to Microsoft's monopoly.
PC's are not evil and neither is liking to use Win95, whose
interface is pretty good. Microsoft itself is evil in that
it is violating anti-monopoly laws (crippling Win NT when
running Netscape and forcing PC makers to license Explorer
with Win 95).
