Wouldn't be surprised if Linux has support for it; see
http://thehamptons.com/anders/netatalk for info on it. If it doesn't,
but you have a clue, you can write suport for it and let the whole
world benefit. As long as the card has some sort of driver, I believe
linux can do IP inside appletalk packets. Then, just turn on ip
forwarding and/or masquerading, and you're ready to go.
There's no reason to pay extra for the fruity logo and be dependent
on that logo for all your hardware and software needs-- that's the far
more dangerous monopoly to get sucked into in the long run. Something
that's publically supported and source code being available can be
supported by *anyone*, even if the original manufacturer gives up on
supporting it. [Can you say lack of GS/OS FST documentation, kids?]
