We have no such "as is" store in my area that I know of, just their
regular retail outlets. It sounds to me like each Goodwill location is
handled on an independent basis; which is why the pricing schemes vary
from area to area. It appears as if some Goodwills charge excessively
for their items, while other store locations are practically giving
their stuff away. I'm fortunate in that I've never had a bad experience
buying from them or found that they've overcharged in any of the stores
I've visited (just the opposite, in fact). I simply don't believe a
blanket statement like "don't shop at Goodwill because you will be
ripped off" applies.
