I agree.  There is no such thing as a "Wintel" machine.

One setup that I used and liked was an IBM/Cyrix 6x86 computer running
the NeXT operating system.  IBM, not Intel.  NeXT, not Windows.  :)

NeXT is really a great operating system.  Built around the Mach
microkernal, it was designed by many of the same ex-Apple folks who
wrote the "Apple Human Interface Guidelines," so it makes what would
normally be considered a PC look and act like an Apple.  Sure, there
are cosmetic differences (the menubar is on the left hand side going
down rather than on the top of the screen), but I suspect GS and Mac
users will feel right at home.  Much more polished and intuitive than
even Windows 95 (none of that IRC checking stuff) and is truly plug
and play.  No wonder Apple is basing its next operating system on it.

Unfortunately, NeXT was another project killed by Steve Jobs' poor
business sense: he sold only to college faculty and students and,
against the advice of sounder minds in his company, refused to
expand sales.

B.J., Randy, you folka really have to get away from the notion that
computers are at "war."  :)  It is just not that simple.
