TransProg III, available from Seven Hills Software, does exactly
what you want. It adds a pull-down menu option from any GS/OS software
that uses the standard desktop interface. You can add programs to its
list (including the option for sub-catagories) and launch applications
by simply selecting them from the pull-down menu.
Alternatively, there is a freeware program called Out To Launch
(also by Seven Hills I believe) which is a scaled down version of
the above. I find TransProg III an essential extension to System 6.
