Actually, I do not believe the three-finger salute is hardcoded into
PC's. Almost all operating systems recognize ctrl-alt-del as reset, but
I have noted that operating system freeze-up situations cannot be fixed
using ctrl-alt-del. There is a piece of initd code in Linux that handles
ctrl-alt-del...Of course, BIOS chips recognize the salute during bootup,
I think.
