Actually, the oldest system version that a 660av will run is 7.1 with the
necessary enabler file present. When 7.1 came out, Apple decided to use the
goofy enabler setup to avoid putting out a new system version with every batch
of new boxes. Happily that idea was short lived, going away when 7.5 came out.
A buddy of mine bought a 660av when they first came out and it did work with
7.1 on it.
I just fired up my SE/30 which is running 7.5.5 and tried the three finger
and to my surprise it worked. I knew that 7.5 added the power key shutdown
setup, but I guess it added three finger restarting too. Both shutting down
by power key and three fingering are in the hardware of the AVs and later
boxes so they work with any system version. Older boxes need 7.5.1 (I think)
or later to get 'em.
