GEOS & emulators

I've got GEOS for the IIe & //c and I'd like to make disk images so I can
retire my //c and still have access to my GEOS files.  Unfortunately, GEOS
boot disk copies cannot boot.  I haven't found the manual yet (I'm sure it's
here someplace if I look hard enough) but I vaguely recall a HD or 3.5"
installation procedure which could allow you to boot from those devices.
I'm wondering if this means making disk images is out of the question. I've
never made a disk image except with DiskCopy on the Mac...

Has anyone had any success with this.
