Despite Apple's best attempts to confuse people by using a
connector normally used by RS232 ports, that is a *GAME* input port
for joysticks, paddles, etc. Pinouts for it are at
http://www.visi.com/~nathan/a2/faq/pinouts.html

The //e does not have a standard serial port builting; you'll have
to add one on a card.

See the Applesoft Basic reference at
http://www.visi.com/~nathan/a2/asoft.html for the code on how to read
the 4 paddle/joystick inputs, and also the 3 pushbuttons.
