Re: What do you do with an Apple //?
| Here's a question, how many people are left out there who _only_

| depend on an Apple II and nothing else in their home.
I am one of those. I have 2 computers presently, an Apple IIe and an
Apple IIgs. The GS I use daily to get on the 'Net' do database and word
processing using mostly AW5.1
However, the 'Net' is dictating to me to get something that handles
frames and graphics.
I am now looking towards a Pentium II due to the processor connector.
I would guess there isnt going to be socket-7 processor upgrades since
Pentium Pro is a socket-8 and Pentium II is a slot-1 although I do like
the AMD-K6 processor. But I am lookin ahead, so Macs are out (cant rely
on Apple support for old puters), so a Pentium II that uses SDRAM in a
DIMM connection (kinda Ironic to have memory in a dimm socket) running
at 266 or 300Mhz w/64meg RAM and around 6 gigs of ultra-wide/fast SCSI-3
HD space oughta hold me for awhile. Oh yes it will have great graphics
card (Matrox Millenium II or ATI all-in-wonder) and sound (sb awe64 gold
or mebbe one of the Ensoniqs) and of course 56k connection to the net
w/voice and video. Bout time I finally got something on the cutting-edge.
Past computers have been Commodores VIC-20, 64, and Plus 4 and an Apple
II+ which got donated just a couple of years ago.
My dad is also Apple IIgs only.
My son is using Power Macs at school.
My grandson, who will be 1 in a couple of days has already expressed his
interest in computers. He will sit on my lap and put his fingers on the
keyboard. I use the kinetic art on Prosel 16 and he will change the screen.
He's actually learned that only the numbers change the kinetic art and
usually doesnt mess with the keys that dont do anything <smart kid>
and is a chip off the ol block :)
Jim
P.S. That makes us a 4 generation Apple family
