Direct cable connection between II apple 2's

Can you hook up two different apple II computers, by cable between the two 
serial cards?

and then share files easily?

I think that this would only require some software, to answer the other 
computers request for information.

What software program will do this?  


I think that a terminal program for a modem would work.  Is there another 
program, besides using this type of program?

It would be great if some has written a program that would run serial port 
like like a hard disk or floppy : when you type cat, s7 (serial card), you 
would get the catalog of Sx.Dy of the other computer.  And be able to set 
x and y.

I've got apple II to IBM cable hooked up.  Now I would like to do Apple to 
Apple.

Do you have a program to do this or something similar for sale?
