The HP DeskJet series of printers are much more compatible with the Apple
IIGS than are the DeskWriter series.
The Harmonie set of GS/OS printer drivers includes support for DeskWriter
560 and older printers. According to Vitesse, newer models of DeskWriters
do not work with the Harmonie drivers.
Additionally, DeskWriters cannot output from any ProDOS-8 based programs.
On the other hand, DeskJets work great with the Apple IIGS. With
Harmonie, you can print at up to 600 x 300 dpi from any standard GS/OS
and you can print out text from ProDOS-8 based programs.
