A long time ago, I saw a similar controller card. I didn't work
reliably, especially at higher temperatures. It turned out that
the EPROM used to implement the state machine wasn't fast enough.
But, at that time, an EPROM fast enough to work in this application
was too expensive to fix the problem, so I considered this type
of controller card broken by design.
