Officially, this is the limit.  However, I believe this is assuming 19.2K
connection.  If you were to connect at a slower speed, like 9600 or 4800,
you should be fine with the extra 4 feet from anouther cable.

Again, it depends on how fast you want to talk.  At slower speeds, you
should be OK.
