Summary of my findings on the Focus 20-meg hard drive thus far:
1. Behaves exactly as expected in an Apple IIgs, that is, GS/OS
treats it exactly like any other ProDOS device.
2. Boots up with no problems from Slot 7 of an enhanced Apple IIe.
3. It won't boot in a non-enhanced Apple IIe, but it works fine from
Slot 7. A startup BASIC program on a 5.25" drive in Slot 6 which
says, 10 PRINT CHR$(4);"PR#7" can be used to "boot" the Focus
drive. It will load AppleWorks 3.0 in a matter of seconds.
4. I just discovered the Focus drive will work in Slot 7 of my 1980
Apple II Plus. (Okay, the II Plus has a late (1983?) motherboard,
a Transwarp II and 64-K via an Apple Language card in Slot 0, and
I have almost no ProDOS software for the II Plus, but the Focus
drive WILL work with it!)
The Focus-20 drives are so inexpensive, I could buy one just to use
with Copy II Plus on my Apple II Plus! I could buy one just to work
with Apple Pascal 1.3! I could buy one just to back up old floppies!
