A proposal
I have been following the thread on software piracy for what seems like
forever, and no one has mentioned a solution. So after some thought, I
give the CSA2 community a proposal that should satisfy most Apple
software users.
Create either a website or filespace on Ground and/or Caltech that has a
where-to-buy-it list of all availiable software. It must be somewhere
where all can upload information and be kept current. The website or
file should have the name of the software, who wrote it or has the
copyright on it, classified as to freeware, shareware, beggarware.
who-gives-a-shitware or for sale only and where it can be purchased.
In the case of shareware, the current snailmail or e-mail address, of the
author will be required. This list should be included in all FAQ's that
deal with the Apple 2 community. This should satisfy any problems that
people say "I couldn't find anyone selling it, so I d/l'ed it off ******"
This provides a no-excuse area for sell vs piracy issue.
This is only a proposal and does not include my point-of-view to either
side of the issue, so I would appreciate no spamming of me personally.
Anyone with a better idea, will be welcomed as far as I am concerned.
Thanx
Jim
