I just took out all four screws and disconnected the grounding wire to the
chassis. Then, I removed the ribbon cable that goes to the computer
cable. Then, I took out the "In use" light cable. After repairing the
drives, I put it all together, and neither the eject button nor the "In
Use" light worked. After reversing the "In Use" light/eject button cable,
it worked. I was removing a metal slider in an AE HD IIGS
3-and-a-half-inch drive. If you're working with a 5-and-a-quarter-inch
drive, reversing the "in use" light cable can damage it because of
anode-cathode reversal.
In short, my advice is to mark all the cables with masking tape.
