Re: Steve Mentos: Pirating scum.

In typical Nathan Mates rant fashion, lacking all substance and logic, he
said:

1st - For a person who can't even get my name right, you sure expect people to
take you seriously.

Here are the facts....

1-	At that time, I didn't even own a IIgs. As I stated before, things
were useless to me. And quite frankly, I couldn't have told you
what was even contained there. The archive was sent to me
by an anonymous remailer. A couple of people (you, joko and earthlink)
logged in. The site was shut down long before earthlink took action.
The site was shut down by me once I made my point.

I watched my FTP log roll by and I knew earthlink was on. I could have
just shut the machine off. I didn't. I didn't care. The fact is that
no-one downloaded and damaged ANY developers life.

You have failed to show proof of my actions, and your rants lacked
any logic whatsoever at that time. You and joe claimed that I
cost him "$$$$$$$", but I can prove that I didn't. You cannot
prove that I did. You tried to crucify me and you failed.

2-	The only reason you "knew" about the site was because I posted to
"this newsgroup" that I had the Prince of Persia software available
there. I DIDN'T HAVE POP ON MY SITE. I didn't have crap. Why would
I deliberately lead a user to a "pirate" site, when the software they
are requesting isn't there. It was bait nathan. I have email after
email commending me on my actions against you for showing the apple II
community what a spiteful, arrogant and hateful person you are.

I am proud of my actions. No one lost a dime. No one got hurt, and
my losses were expected and anticipated. I proved my point.

3-	I had a war with you long before the "pirate" site even went up.
You were looking for a fight, you picked one and you lost.
You tried to make me out to be a "scapegoat". You failed.

Now you forge another assault on me. I dont know why. Maybe
it is because people can understand my logic regarding the
	downloading of copyrighted, but NON-COMMERCIALLY-AVAILABLE
software. This might be a threat to you. I dont know.

But what I do know is that people have emailed me stating that
they support my views. Not many people, but there are people out
there. Ordinary apple II users. The regular joe's. They can
see the grey area. I am not crazy, and I am not a thief. Get that
	through YOUR head.

>condemnation follows. Does the little scum call all those who
>denounced and canceled the posts Nazis, just like before? Nope. But
>it's the exact same deal, only on a smaller scale.

Upon further review of your post, I just realized that you are implicating me
in the uploading of Harmonie/Express on this newsgroup. If I might refresh
your memory, I was one of the first people to publicly state that this was
wrong. I had nothing to do with that incident, and until you can provide
adequate proof that I had something to do with it, you might want to keep a
little more tight-lipped.

Once again, you look for someone to crucify nathan. The fact is that you are
wrong AGAIN.

> Now Mr. Mentos is trying to pull the wolf-in-sheeps clothing

>available software. I'll be a developer soon." Don't trust a fucking
>word this creep says-- his actions speak FAR louder than any words.

Stop the cursing nathan. You are the wolf-in-sheeps clothing. I am just trying
to preserve the future of the apple II by liberating such
non-commercially-available software titles. Downloading
non-commercially-available titles hurts no-one. And none of you have been able
to show just how it hurts when someone downloads a non-commercially-available
title off of a site like asimov. Sh*t or get off the pot nathan. Show some
logic and debate the topic or keep quiet.

You on the other hand routinely attempt to subvert and assault the attempts by
many of the users on CSA2 to provide service and help to the Apple II
community. You have a long history of rants, hostile behaviour and attitude
towards newbies and veteran users alike. The constant thread through all of
this is:

"Nathan's way or no-way".

We have learned to live with you nathan, but you sure as hell don't want to
live with us. You can't accept any other opinion than your own, and YOUR
actions speak louder than words.

> Steve Mentzer is an unrepentant pirate of old and current software
>and should be removed from the presence of fine, law abiding citizens
>of this newsgroup who know what's right, and that he's wrong. The
>facts are clear; Steve Mentos only can fall back on namecalling to try
>and defend his stupidly chosen position. Get him out of here, now.

Yes, I do pirate software that you cannot purchase anymore. I fail to see how
me using a copy of "Bard's Tale" affects the current developers of Apple II
software. Geez, how many times do I need to say this?

I haven't called you any names nathan. I have just pointed out the extremist
nature of your posts and beliefs. We can all live together if you would just
mellow out and stop trying to crucify anyone who you don't get along with.

Up until a few days ago the last time I touched a IIgs was ~1991. I have no
IIgs software, new or old. How is it possible for me to be this huge pirate? I
dont understand your logic, as I suspect most people don't.
