Apple II in the news
Here are some excerpts from a recent newspaper article:
Riverside, CA - Press-Enterprise 7/13/97
The rows of Apple IIe computers inside the computer lab at
Kimberly Elementary School in Redlands are 10 years old, ancient in
computer years, but still going strong.
"It's like the Energizer bunny," said Principal Roy Cencirulo.
"It just keeps on running. "
Cencirulo is an unabashed fan of Apple Computer Inc., a company
that grabbed the state education market in 1979 with a single
stroke - the donation of one computer to every school in California.
Raumin was there when every school in California received a
free Apple II computer marked with the logo "Kids Can't Wait. "
"It was like a tank, really durable," he said. "We still have
classrooms full of them despite kids spilling their lunch into them
and stepping on the keyboard. They still seem to work. "
[the rest of the article talks about whether schools should adopt Macs
or Windows PCs.]
