Re: What's New At SSII?

: The Harmonie set of GS/OS printer drivers is now published by Shareware
: Solutions II.

After posting a list of the drivers included with Harmonie, a question
came in via e-mail that asked: "What's the difference between the .FL
and .HAR drivers?"

The answer, in a nutshell...

Harmonie allows you to render an image either externally or internally.
When internal is chosen, the GS renders the image. When external is
chosen, the printer renders the image. So, each driver is really composed
of two files...one file controls internal rendering, the other file
controls external rendering.

Harmonie is smart enough though to know which file to use. You just pick
internal or external rendering, and Harmonie does the best.

In my 4 years of experiece as a Harmonie user, I ALWAYS use internal
rendering for text, and external for graphics.

At least to my eyes, printed output looks the absolute best when doing
it this way. But...as in all matters where personal opinion and
subjectivity are concerned...your mileage may vary.

So, new owners of DeskJets, LaserJets, and Harmonie are advised to
experiment with each option. In other words, let your own eyes be the
judge of what looks best.
