RamFast SCSI and Quantum Pro 105S

I'm having problems getting a RamFast SCSI card and a Quantum Pro 105S to
play together in a //GS. The RamFast works fine on a 60 meg drive I have,
but seems to get confused on the 105S. Apparently the config info and/or
partition info is not getting written to the drive. I am doing an Option-S
and Option-P when I'm done with formatting and partitioning, and it seems
to work OK as long as the system is powered up. But as soon as I power
down and up again, the RamFast says that there is no config info and I have
to start over. It also says "REFORMAT REQUIRED FIRST". Also, if I give it
an Option-N for next drive in chain, it finds the partition info, but it's
not 100% correct, like all the partitions will be showing, but only 1 will
be active when I set them all active, 0 lookahead when it should be 32k,
etc.

I'm stumped. The drive has been formatted and works fine with a CMS rev
2.0 card, but I wanted to use that on the smaller drive on a second system,
and use the "big" 100 meg drive and the RamFast on my main system.

Other info: the drive works as any SCSI ID on the CMS card, but is not
recognized when set higher than 3 with the RamFast: the machine just sits
there at the ROM 3 screen, no RamFast utility screen. For the heck of it,
I tried it with a Rev C Apple SCSI card, but the drive didn't even spin up.
I don't know *what* to make of that, perhaps the Apple card is just dead.
System is a ROM 3 //GS with 5 megs of ram, RamFast is a Rev B.

I admit this is my first attempt at a hard drive on any Apple //, and know
nothing about SCSI drives, so it's entirely possible I'm just doing
something stupid. So have pity on a grizzled old PC/IDE/BIOS/Win95
veteran, and be gentle!
