Re: Apple II modem question: How can you go at 19200 when apple II isnt this fast?

I remember an article in Computer Shopper Years ago that configured //e's,
II+'s, and II's, at 56K using the 16 pin joystick port. The Super Serial
card in my II+ would only go to 9600, but at the time modem's were just
hitting the maximum baud of 2400. Another thing to remember is when
comparing the processor speed, the number is only good for like
processor's. The original 1 MHz Apple was comparable to a 4.77 MHz 8088,
and actually did a lot of things faster because of the way it handled the
display (you can update a forty column screen faster than a you can an 80
column screen that connected to an I/O port. My 8MHz GS did keep up with
my 486 DX2/66 quite well. However, my Pentium 100 does make it appear slow
( I still love my GS though!!!). And I'll buy software for it, as long as
people keep selling it!!!!
