Problem with AE Vulcun 40MB HD

I have a friend with a IIgs. I have been bringing it upto date
software and have all hardware working. The problem is
an error that kept happening on the HD. Can not remember it
exactly but says something like "Please insert volume HD1".
HD1 & HD2 are the names of the partitions. Found some
useful info on Nathen Mates page that applied to this very
problem. Re-mapped the drive with the undocumented
feature of AE's partionion manager and get the following
message:
"Could not read valid partition block...."
I press yes to create new one and it goes through and
checks. I check a second time and the message comes
up again. Could be a software problem, I don't know.
What I do know is that most of the blocks that came
up bad the first time come up again. Some don't and
some new ones show up. After several checks I have found
about 25 bad blocks that don't check out bad at the same time.
They all are on what I assume to be Head 3.

Any ideas. Can head three just be eliminated some how? Will
a new drive need to be installed? Does any one have a HD
drive they are willing to sell or trade.
