   Welcome to comp.sys.apple2. I invite and encourage you to read the
comp.sys.apple2 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) at
http://www.visi.com/~nathan/a2/faq/csa2.html which includes all sorts
of information about the various models, upgrading them, getting
online, BASIC and DOS commands, plus links to several more FAQs and
references that you should be aware of.

   It'd help to know what kind of Apple IIs these are; the case should
have some kind of label identifying which model: Apple ][, ][+, //e,
//c, IIGS or IIc+. If it's the ][ or ][+, that's a real old model, and
it might be slightly harder to get things. Otherwise, you can get
started on downloading-- see FAQ section 5.* for how to download
stuff, and lists of where to download from. If you don't have any form
of modem program and have at least a 64K Apple II (//e or later, as
well as some ][s and ][+s), your best bet is to contact Steve
Cavanaugh as mentioned in section 10.2 of the FAQ to get a 5.25" disk
including an OS, modem and telcom programs.
