Well, there are other graphic formats you can read on a IIGS-
Convert 3200 also reads BMPs and TIFFs, and Prism can read
TIFFs also. You can also view PCX files with Convert 3200 and 
SuperConvert. I don't know of anthing to read .AVI or other movies
(other than DL type movies) though. You can also read and convert
WAV, AU, and some Mac sound files with Paul Benson's excellent
shareware rSounder 3.0.

Actually, most CD-ROMs designed for DOS/Windows computers
are formatted with ISO 9660 not MS-DOS...the HS.FST will read
most of these. However, the MSDOS.FST should read CD-ROMs
formatted with MS-DOS (as should the MS-DOS utilities).

DiscQuest is fine for what it does--which is to allow you to use 
CD-ROMs based on the discpassage database. There are about
18 of those, which were being sold last year for fire-sale prices in
the various Mac catalogs. Tiger Media may still have some.

Here's what I use my CD-ROM for:
discQuest encyclopedia (1994 Windows version of Compton's)
discQuest with the following CD-ROMs:
  Family Doctor, Audobon's Birds, Audobon's Mammals, Parenting
  Total Baseball, Sherlock Holmes, Shakespeare
several graphics CD-ROMs (BMP, PCX, GIF, etc.)
some Audio CD-ROMs (a Zillion Sounds, Multimedia Music, etc.)
Golden Orchard CD-ROM (lots of Apple II files shareware, etc.)

I've been very glad that I got my CD-150 for the IIGS.
