This is what I did some years ago, when I ported the Spectrum128
Cybernoid1&2 players to 6502/Mockingboard:

Unfortunately it doesn't work properly on real h/w... it only works
well on emulators (AppleWin and Virtual][) - proving our emulation
isn't perfect! And I never found the time to debug it on real h/w (my
guess is I'm hitting the 6522 too fast). If you are interested in the
code for this, then let me know.

I guess this makes the 6502/65C02 difference moot!  ;-)

But ProDOS works fine on 6502 systems as long as it's not a
version 2.x ProDOS.
