Notice to all from Dr. Tom about KFest-97

After reading all these threads about who wrote who - with what letter
of rejection, etc. concerning my being 'Banned from Attending KFest-97',
especially after reading that the people on Delphi and Genie don't seem
to know anything about the letter from Cindy Adams...I thought it would
be wise to simply post the reply from Cindy and set things straight for
everybody to read.

(See the exact(unedited) email reply copy below and my comments on it
all - following.)

I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. I had a skin cancer
removed from the back of my hand, and typing has been fairly painful for
me.

Thank you for inquiring whether it would be OK if you attended KFest. We
appreciate your sensitivity in realizing that your presence could
possibly disrupt this small gathering of Apple II developers and
enthusiasts.

You obviously understand that any disruption could hurt KFest, and we
hope that you will be equally understanding when you hear the
committee's decision is to request that you not attend this year. There
was much thoughtful deliberation, but in the end the committee decided
to not take the chance of upsetting people who have been attending
regularly each year.

(A) I did want to go to KFest-97 - to set several issues straight about
a multitude of misinformation and historical gossip concerning me. I
wanted to go to have a peaceful face-to-face Q & A session and/or civil
debate about past issues that seem to have been accepted as fact - when
they are not fact. I wanted to present documented original information
to prove the gossip WRONG. I also believed this might well be my last
opportunity and the first and last KFest that I could attend - to have
such a meeting with all these people that have preformed opinions of me,
based on all this non-factual gossip concerning many VERY BAD things
I've been accused of over the years, that I simply DID NOT do myself or
have anybody else do for me.

(B) I was not the least bit scared or concerned that any physical harm
might come to me if I did attend.

(C) Cindy's reply made it clear to me that I was not welcomed and should
not attend - to me that's the same as saying 'you are banned from
attending KFest-97. So, NEVER having made any type of formal application
or any form of prepayment - I thought perhaps I might just be able to
pay KFest-97 an informal short visit to make myself available for
whatever questions and answers or civil and peaceful debate might be
possible. Nothing more than a brief 1 or 2 hour visit was in mind by me.

(D) Others have sense canceled and asked for refunds and have gotten
them. Others were going to go to KFest-97 and decided not to - after I
advised them I would not be one of the attendees.

(E) Many of my friends have both - advised me to go anyway and others
said I'd be insane to subject myself to such hateful fits of mental and
physical harm I might receive if I did go.

(F) So, to make a long story as short as possible,

 ********* I will not be at KFest-97 - period *********

This gives all the KFest-97 attendees the added enjoyment of not having
my presents there disrupting them. And, also gives them all the options
of saying whatever they want to about me, without my being there to show
that the gossip in without factual basis. So, for all the KFest-97
attendees who enjoy gossip and misinformation about Dr. Tom - let the
gossip and misinformation roll - as it always has and always will!

I trust this will clear everything up for everybody - so concerned about
these KFest-97 matters. It would be very nice to NOT see any more silly
rants, ignorant speculation or threads concerning the CSA2 article 'Tom
Turley Banned from KFest-97. Although, I doubt it will end - until
something else pops up to replace it. That's your cue -Joe Kohn, Nathan
Mates, Bozo, Richard Bennett, Wily and all the others with a life-time
charter membership in the 'Turley-haters Club' to come up with YET
another juicy tidbit of nonfactual gossip, silly little rants and blind
speculation about Dr. Tom. After all this newsgroup does seem to need
some subject to gossip, rant over and speculate on - to keep it lively
and active with such interest. And, I hope the peace and sanity will
once again return to this newsgroup with my departure from it for a few
days - but, that I also doubt.

Sincerely,
Tom
