Well, what printers does your DJ600 emulate? Other HP deskjets? IBM
ProPrinter or X24? Epson? I know that most DJ printers these days
don't even have DIP switches so I'm not sure how you would change it,
but that's the first thing I would look for.
Once you have an emulation, set the printing to 7 bit (as opposed to 8
bit), pick the emulated printer and printer card, and then give it a
whirl.
