This is due to their notice which they first put out when they first
released their software as freeware.  Well, not having been around when
they did that, I would consider myself one person who is relatively
unaware of those conditions--it is possible others are the same.  In
addition, since, as far as I can tell, those freeware notices were created
before the universal acceptance of ground as the major downloading area
openly available to apple 2 users, perhaps some dialogue should open up
with the copyright owners to see if they are willing to have them placed
on ground.  As it stands right now, they are only available from
compuserve and genie, right?

Whoooaaa there.  While Tom has done some things bad, both in the far and
near past, this is not an example of it.  You think Tom is going "Ha ha
ha....I will be evil and upload files which can be obtained freely to an
easily accessible ftp site and leave them there to be used by Apple I
users."? I don't think Turley was aware of this particularly unusual
copyright clause, and that his main motive was simply to do a service for
the Apple II community.  I think the major problem is that a lot of you
don't comprehend the idea of a) anybody ever doing something out of pure
goodness, or b) that anyone every can change. You guys must feel that the
death penalty is a pretty good sentence for a misdemeanor, since that
person will obviously not be a value to society past that point.
