There were a few minor sub-variants of Applesoft Basic in the very
late 70s/early 1980s, mostly depending on whether it was distributed
on cassette, disk, or bundled in ROM. I have a bunch of these
differences listed in my Applesoft Basic reference/FAQ at
http://www.visi.com/~nathan/a2/faq/csa2.html. [From memory, the
extended [... TO x2,y2[ TO x3,y3]...] form of HPLOT isn't in the
cassette/disk versions. Also, when Apple IIs versions lost the
cassette i/o port (//c, IIGS, IIc+), their version of Applesoft in ROM
also lost those functions.

There was a GS Basic planned and partially-fully implemented by
Apple, but (is this any surprise except to those who think that
Macintosh, Inc., can do no wrong?) it didn't make it out the door.
What a shame, since the ability to turn on a computer and begin
programming *IS* very user friendly. Do not alienate those with a
clue...
