     BattleChess is cute and worth having; but, it does not play very good 
chess. Another problem with BC is that you cannot replay games with the 
action graphics.

     As far as I know, the most recent good GS chess playing program is 
ChessMaster-- ChessMaster 2100 may have been the last for-GS version. 
There is a good selection of displays, including a nice 3-D board display, 
along with the options you expect in such a program (listing of moves 
during play, replay, etc.).

     At 'tournament speed' on an unaccelerated GS, CM2100 plays well 
enough to beat most wood pushers, especially those who play 'book' 
openings.
