I don't know about long-term, but I've run my DuoDisk 5.25 on it's
side several times in the past and it seems to have worked just fine.
The reason I've done this is my Apple IIe is on a narrow desk with my
Apple IIc beside it, so when I need to run it with the top off (testing
cards or whatnot) I just flip the DuoDisk and place it in the narrow
space in-between the machines.
