You REALLY got a great deal. Ok, Scantron Quality Computers sells the
latest version of AppleWorks - v5.1, but I am not sure if you can get it on
5 1/4 media. Even if you could get 5 1/4 install disks, I don't know about
running it off of 5 1/4 disks. Maybe someone else could comment on that. If
you NEED to, perhaps someone could help you make a 5 1/4 version of the 3
1/2 install disks so that you could install AW 5.1.
You might also want to consider investing in a hard drive, especially since
you got a super deal on the system. There are several drive combos to
choose from, but a 20 MB Alltech Focus Hard Card might do just the trick
for you. It's a complete hard drive mounted right on a controller card. I
installed one on a friend's IIe about nine months ago and it's working
great for him. I believe that they are still $99.00 + shipping. They do
have other larger sizes as well. You WILL need a memory expansion card
also. 1 MB would be good for AW 5.1. And maybe a clock card, if date
stamping your files matters to you. Alltech should be able to help you out
with those also.
