The 1084S will definitely work with a IIgs with the proper cable.  I
have cable making instructions from Brian Johnson.  The NEC MultiSync
II will definitely work with a IIgs.  Both are analog RGB monitors
that can sync-horizontal down to 15.75 kHz and have sync on green.

According to my info archive, the Commodore 1082 is a digital RGB
monitor.  It will accept analog signals at 15 khz but there will be a
limit of 16 colors.

Not sure if there is a IIA, but there is a NEC Multisync 2A.  The II
and 2A are definitely different models (model numbers JH-1402HMA and
JH-1403HMA respectively).

If you do not want to make your own cable, Redmond Cable
(206-882-2009 / they do have a web page) will do it for you - for a
price.
