unix shell says "dumb" terminal

    When I log into my isp and try to read my mail it tells me
 that I can't because I have a "dumb" terminal.  

    I have a 2GS, 5.25 megs of ram, Spectrum 2.0 and a Mac&Fax 144 modem.

  I have been able to logon in the past and run lynx, pine, tin, the
 whole sheebang.  

    Please help!
