Hackin' internal fan and lamp for IIE CPU

             INTERNAL FAN AND NIGHT LIGHT FOR IIE CPU

Anyone out there do "recreational hacking" in their Apples?

I found that at the left-front end of the IIE motherboard (at the keyboard-
end), there are several large metal plates from which +12v dc and +5v dc 
power can be extracted.

I have some DC 12v fans (salvaged from junked power supplies), and I 
installed a fan INSIDE THE IIE.  Its under the keyboard, slanted, attached
to the botton grating of the metal baseplate with nylon cable-ties.
(The fan in SYSTEM SAVER is AC 115v, so it cannot be installed inside the 
CPU.)  My fan is plastic, so there is no danger of shorting the board 
even if the canble-tie fasteners broke loose.

I also installed a dc 6v .1 amp bicycle tail lamp as a motherboard night 
light.  Its installed next to the fan.  Shrink-tubing covers all metal 
parts on the bult, so that it cannot endanger the motherboard even if the 
fasteners broke loose.   

Both these items take minimal power, and they run from the internal IIe 
power supply.
