   If you have not (and saved) the preferences for that directory, it
defaults to whatever the parent directory had. That way, if you set
the root directories ton every volume to vview by name, it should be
propagated out to the rest of the directories. If you've got the 'save
window size/posn/view' off from the special menu, (I hate that
feature, since I always am moving stuff out of the way, and prefer the
few root dirs to pop up in the same places each time) you can hold
down control while closing the window, and the posn will be saved.

   If you've already got 'Finder Droppings' all over your drive with
the defaults set to the icon view, you can either manually clean them
out, or use Richard Benett's 'Scarabadie'Finder Extension.
