not there yet (FAQ info)

So I checked the FAQ to see if the info about using ProTYPE had made it there
yet. In case you don't remember, that's the cool drag 'n drop file converter
which makes it trivial to get files from a Mac to ProDOS 8 in a readable
form. This is what I found instead:

"There used to be a program to remove a resource fork from a file, but appears
to have disappeared from the net. There has been no luck in finding a
replacement; those on csa2 who use Macs to download either (1) deny there's a 
problem, (2) think that everyone should have file/creator type changer
programs, even though such things are not part of the MacOS by default or (3) 
think that you should do all your downloading over an Appleshare
connection. If you have any useful information to contribute, that would be 
appreciated."

Gee it's a surprise that it doesn't mention me by name.

So I went to dejanews and fished out the info I posted:

"...The helper app I use is Dirk Froeling's ProTYPE, which, if it 
isn't on a site somewhere, could be put there in short order. It's a 
drag 'n drop resource stripper, binscii decoder, and file type setter 
all in one.

"So the system boils down to getting ProTYPE to process files you download,
which is done with the customize menu in Fetch. Or, if doing the customization
is too arduous for a user, it's just as easy to keep ProTYPE handy for drag 
'n drop action once you get the files transferred. Either way, it ain't rocket 
science."

I can't figure out why this info hasn't made it into the FAQ. I do have a
theory though - I think it would violate Nathan's world view to recognize
that there is no trick involved in converting files from MacOS to ProDOS 8.
What other reason could there be?
