I do prefer my gs, too. But I think there is really one good reason to buy
one of that other computers: portability!
The most divine of all book authors, Douglas Adams is known as a Mac addict.
When he wrote "Last chance to see" and travelled to the most remote spaces on
the earth, he carried an electronic notebook with him.
Imagine that, instead of sitting in a dark terminal room inside an ugly
concrete building full of stale air, arrogant officials, snappy secretaries
and grovelling colleages, you sit on a tree stump in the forest armed with
a notebook, a cross-compiler and a gs emulator, and while you program you
see the trees and animals, you smell the fresh air and you hear the
chirping of the birds and the wind in the trees...
I think this is real freedom, at least as long as your batteries last.. :)
Of course, I'm writing this letter from the last place on the earth where I
want to be: a dark terminal room inside an ugly concrete building full of
stale air, arrogant officials, snappy secretaries and grovelling colleages.
I think I would prefer the man-eating lizards of Komodo Island. :P
Seems that I have plenty of time left to cultivate my depressions...
