It's from Nibble magazine, Vol. 4/No. 8. It's by Mike Eve, of Renton,
WA, who writes, "APPLE TALKER will make 7300 1-bit sample per second.
This rate and resolution are adequate to produce recognizable voice,
although quite a bit of distortion is introduced. APPLE TALKER works
best with short, common words."
The program consisted of a BASIC management program with a machine
language segment to do the actual work. The program took input from
the cassette port and output via the speaker.
The sound routines were small enough as to fit all of them on page 3.
