(newbie) AppleIIc-->Mac
Hello!
In my family, we have two computers - an aging Apple IIc and a
PowerComputing PowerBase 180 Mac clone. My father had been using the IIc
for years to do his spreadsheets and databases, but is finally starting to
use ClarisWorks' equivelants.
Basically, we're in a quandry. We have years of Apple IIc 5.25" floppies
with Appleworks documents (all sorts - spreadsheets, word processor docs,
databases) and would like to be able to save them by exporting them to the
Mac. I know ClarisWorks has the XTND translators to convert the AppleWorks
documents fine, so I just need to get them onto the Mac somehow.
That's my question -- HOW? I've read through some of the FAQs but didn't
find anything on transferring information from an Apple IIc 5.25" floppy to
a Mac hard drive. The null-modem solution sounded interesting, but how
would I get access to the information on the disks? We don't have a second
disk drive or access to a 3.5" drive for the IIc, unfortunately. If someone
could lend me theirs and instruct me how to go about doing the transferring,
I'd be willing to compensate in return. I just have to get at those files
on the disks.
If anyone could help, this would be sincerely appreciated. I don't know
which avenue to turn to but this newsgroup looks like the best place.
Please reply via e-mail or post publicly here.
Thanks in advance.
...Michael
