There are three varieties of Z-RAM. The first allows memory expansion
to 512K. The second allows 1 Meg, and the third allows 1 Meg with CP/M
capability. All three models have a Z-80 chip on them. The purpose of
that chip on the first two models is to "refresh" D-RAM. It was
easier to use the chip rather than design a whole refresh circuit! But
the first two models do not support CP/M even though they contain the
Z-80 chip.
