Re: GS/OS for xgs emulator?
With respect to both emulators; Gus and XGS, note that both have there
valid differences and usefulness. Gus is great but, only supports the Mac
PPC platform.
Gus, appears to have the IIGS ROM image within the program. XGS -DOES
NOT- provide any IIGS rom image. But, does provide a program to allow you
to extract the IIGS rom image from your own -REAL- IIGS.
XGS supports the Mac 68k platform, various PC and unix
platforms such as X-11, Windows, etc. It's very possible to LEGALLY
obtain the GS/OS 6.0.1 archive and convert it yourself for use with the
XGS emulator, as with any other disk image conversion. You can also
extract your own GS rom for use with XGS. The authors of XGS _DO NOT_
furnish the ROM image or the GS/OS v6.0.1 disk image.
Thus if you have a Mac PPC and you also have Gus, then that's the best you
can get. If you have a Mac 68k or unix, windows or the other such windows
platform and XGS, then that's the best you can get there!
I have and use all of them with both emulators _LEGALLY_ and like them
all, in their own ways.
So, who's working on GS emulators for the Commodore's and Atari's and Be's
and so on etc.????? No doubt, some day soon all the computers will have
GS emulators.
What I'm really waiting and hoping for now is a Mac SE emulator for the
IIGS. : )
