GSOS-->Win 95 File Move tricks

I have been migrating some business files to Win 95 from Appleworks GS. 
Here is what I have found to work the best.

Appleworks GS will save files in Ascii format. Office 95 will read these 
in pretty easily.

Spreadsheet: saving as ASCII WILL save all of your formulas. The only
problem I have found with formulas is those using the Appleworks GS
function "numdate". Load the imported text file into a word processor and
search and replace Numdate with the correct function in Office (I forget
what it is...)

Database: Office 95 has a database wizard that will make importation of 
the data relatively painless. You will only get data, and lose any field 
calculations performed. Be warned, Office 95 doesn't work the same here. 
Tables are for straight data. Calculated fields are done in forms or reports.

I have moved files into Clarisworks for 95, too.

Actually moving files:

I used to use an old DOS/ProDOS set of programs called Crossworks. It's 
OK, but kinda clunky and hasn't been too reliable lately. It runs on both 
machines, and connects them with a special serial cable.

If you have a SCSI card in each machine, as I do, you can use a WIN 95 
program called Mac Drive 95. This is 95 extension of some sort that 
allows 95 to read and write HFS formatted disks directly. 

I use my 44 meg Syquest cartridge drive to pass data. Any SCSI fixed 
drive would work, too. 

Format the disk on the GS. For some reason, the GS won't see a Mac Drive 
95 formatted HFS disk, but MD95 will see a GSOS formatted one.

Move all the data you want to transfer on to the cartridge, and then plug 
the drive into the other machine and boot it. All of your files will be 
there, accessable from any 95 program.

(I haven't had the nerve yet to change the address on my GS SCSI card and 
try to run the GS, Syquest, and PC all on the same buss at the same time...)
