I just got around to reading Max Jones' mid-'96 interview w/Derek, and the 
12/96 update.  They were both fascinating and encouraging.  According to 
Derek, work has gone well, but it won't be released until it's all 
"right".  Then there's the matter of documentation, etc.

The interview included a lot of detailed programming information, such as 
why GNO/ME will be required.  Interesting reading.
