GEOS reclassification letter-writing compaign:
(Much thanks to Bruce Maples for getting the ball rolling.)
In order to get GEOS reclassified as freeware or shareware, please
print out the following form and mail it to GeoWorks (or write
another letter). Remember: if we want to get the software released,
we have to try to get it released. If anyone has their telephone,
fax, or email contacts, please post them so that we can bombard
them through those avenues too. :)

Dear Sir:
GEOS for the Apple II has been out of press for several
years now. It is one of the few Apple II products that works
well with laser printers. As a reader of the comp.sys.apple2
usenet newsgroup, I often see teachers ask how to best make use
of their Apple computers. Our public schools do not have enough
funds to put a new PC or Macintosh on every desk, so Apple IIs
are still in service. The typical configuration is an Apple IIGS
with 512K of memory with a mouse, RGB screen, and an 800K floppy.
Ideally, teachers want these Apple IIs to work with their
LaserWriters or LaserJets for word processing, but a 512K Apple
IIGS does not have enough memory to run its native operating
system, GS/OS, which is required to drive such printers. GEOS,
however, runs flawlessly on a machine of this configuration.
Please consider releasing GEOS as freeware or, if that
is not feasable, as shareware. The GEOS operating system will
make these still capable computers useful. The GEOS application
suite (GeoWrite, GeoCalc, GeoFile, and GeoPublish) will make
the schools' venearable Apple II computers capable of word
processing and desktop publishing with high quality output.
This capability is what is most needed by the schools. At a time
when many students do not even have typewriters, GEOS equipped
Apples are desparately sought.
Thank you for considering this request.
Respectfully,
