Only the really old .sit files can be read and uncompressed by GS
Shrinkit (GSHK). Newer ones can't be done on a GS. I rather dislike
the 'no spec publically available for the compression algorithms' of
Mac compressors (new Stuffit/Compact Pro) that basically ensures that
without a Mac, your file is unopenable.
If people want to be able transfer files, they should make the
spec publically documented and hopefully source code as well. That
or use a lowest common denominator readable by everything such as
raw text.
