First off, who says telephone service is an inalienable right?
 
* The Public Utilities Commision.
 
Second off,the exponential increase in internet traffic over the
public voice network is starting to wreak havoc.

Third off, telephone companies are in business to make money, not
provide for the common good.
 
* Nope! not true. Not Ma Bell or whatever you want to call her.
Therefore the P.U.C. (to protect the common good). Their fiscial
responsibility is over looked by it.
 
Fourth off, measured service (where one pays for the time one uses,
just like cellular air time, electricity, gas, water, gasoline) is a
forgone conclusion. It is coming and it's coming soon. Them's that
uses more is gonna pays more.
 
* Boy are you confused! Sewer and water, electric power and heating
gas are not in the same boat as cellular whatever. If Ma Bell wants
out from the umbrella of the P.U.C. we'll deregulate local phone
service and let the competition in.
