Nah...  Below I am assuming you're using ProTerm's Zmodem to xfer.

Could be that since they're on your disk as TXT that they are being
_sent_ as TXT.  There's a difference between Zmodem-Text and Zmodem-Bin.
Try setting the auto-filetype in Misc:Prefs:Xfers:Zmodem to BIN and the
only trouble you will have (or that I've seen) is when you download what
is supposed to be text, it'll be a BIN on your disk (and you can change
the filetype back to TXT when you want to view them).

If you're not using ProTerm or xfering by Zmodem, then I don't know.
