I agree with the folks who say that the print head is gone. I can recall
when I could not afford a Imagewriter II @ $500. Times have changed and I
recently sold a used HP DeskJet 500 Printer here for $75.00. Although it
does not do color, it is a quieter and easier to use printer. AW4 and AW3
with patches support it, it does beautiful proportional spacing.
It would be more cost effective to get a HP Deskjet + or 500 and replace
thw IW II. Note that both of these printers are serial and parallel
inputs, the later ones are not. You get a new print head with these each
time you get a new cartridge, so you won't have the same kind of problem
again.
